Why Not???

So I figured I'd give this blog thing a try...why not right?  It's a pretty exciting time in my life, and with bridesmaids all over the country...what better way to keep them all updated on the big day?! (Which by the way still hasn't been set)  I guess I am kind of a slacker bride in that respect.  I have been engaged for 2 months now and haven't picked a date, place, anything.  All I know is that I am going to have the best wedding party ever.  I definitely picked the best seven girls out there to stand by me on my wedding day (and obey my every command until then).  Here is a little sneak peek at my lovely ladies:

Trish Billingsley (MOH):  Trish and I have been acquaintences since Kindergarten, and friends for as long as I can remember.  We both attended the same chuch growing up, and participated in youth group together.  Much of my afterschool time in junior high and high school was spent riding the good ol' razor scooter over to Trish's house where we used to spend hours doing who knows what on the computer (ok I would totally rewrite songs and make her listen to them).  We went to Italy together the summer after our senior year with our youth group, where we shared a bed in an Italian hostel.  Trish is getting married in August of 2011 and I am super excited to be her maid of honor then!  It is awesome to be engaged at the same time!

Kylie Rasmussen (MOH):  Kylie is obviously Ty's sister and I couldn't be more excited to have a sister-in-law that is so fun, and fashionable!  She is not only my personal shopper, but I spend many morning digging through her closet trying to find something that might fit me that I could wear that day.  I am super excited for her to have a hand in planning the bachelorette party, because where Kylie goes, a serious party follows!  Kylie is already like a sister to me, and making it official is going to be amazing!

Delaney Aydel: This little firecracker is the youngest in my lineup of lovely ladies. My little baby sister who is 8 1/2 years younger than I am has her last day of driver's ed. today.  Good Lord, she's gonna be driving...and it's gonna be legal?  Somethings seems wrong with that picture.  Wasn't it just like, two weeks ago that I was convincing her that it would be such a good idea to bang her head into the wall of the bedroom we shared to try to annoy Roy on the other side?  It makes me seriously laugh to think about which groomsman Delaney will walk down the aisle with.  I'm hoping for Brad, personally.  She will probably be corrupted, and no doubt scarred for life.  Perfect.

Kirimi Flitter: Kirimi and I were going to be friends, whether we liked it or not.  We were next-door neighbors from the day I was born, and Kirimi wasn't so sure she wanted a little rascal running around on her turf!  Needless to say, we became best friends...I guess sisters is more accurate.  I can't really list all of our memories on here because there are 24 years worth, but lets just say Kirimi was the ring leader of the neighborhood kids.  We convinced my brother that us running away and hiding from him was a game...called Bad ET, but he was always the bad guy.  She invented dozens of games that made no sense looking back on them, but some that were actually pretty awesome (I still get weird cravings to play the shooting game).  Kirimi is married to a pretty awesome dude, and has an ADORABLE little girl, who happens to be my flower girl!  (Does that mean I get to call her my "matron of honor" hahahaha)

Emily Papp: I only picked Emily to be in my wedding because she is super creative, and is totally gonna design everything for me.  Ok, just kidding.  I love this girl to death.  I have probably spent more overall time with Emily than my own sister.  We got rides to school together in Elementary school, and she would come over when her parents left for work.  That gave us a solid half-hour or so to play barbies (and barbie cards...don't ask).  We played little house, polly pocket, littlest pet shop, roller coaster tycoon for hours, even days at a time.  I probably have spent about half of my life total in her bump out in her room.  The thing about Em is that no matter how crazy busy she is, with her 40 hours of class a week, plus her 3 jobs and 2 internships...she will ALWAYS make time for her family (which I totally am part of).  When she found out she was in my wedding, she immediately sent me links to about 8 websites she has used for inspiration in her design classes.  Seriously valuable addition to my wedding party.

Lauren Strand: College would have sucked without Lauren.  We did Tae Kwon Do at the same school, and never really became friends until we found out we were both going to UW.  We were both going to be living in the dorms with a random roommate for our Freshman year.  We hung out a bunch that year, and decided we should probably live together Sophomore year.  One thing led to another, and we lived together for 3 years in a row.  We shared more laughs that I can remember over horrible roommates, her obsession with horses, and so much more.  I laugh so much with (and at) Lauren, hearing about her adventures working in the rat lab (she works with alcoholic rats).  Now if she can get off her horse for a few hours now and then to help me with this wedding, we will be good to go.

Claire Defouw: This scrawny little pistol from Boulder, Colorado came into my life in college, thanks to Lauren and a lot of luck.  Lauren and Claire were randomly paired as roommates Freshman year and we used to go through her clothes when she was out, gawking at her size 00 jeans and xsmall tshirts.  Claire and I slowly became friends, and the 3 of us decided to live together year after year.  Our apartment Junior and Senior year was definitely my best memory of college.  We built a giant fort in the living room for finals week, and consistently played practical jokes on Lauren (like hiding her favorite horse t-shirt, or constructing elaborate set-ups involving hiding a singing card in her room).  Lauren and I went to visit Claire in Delaware for a week in the summer, which was one of my favorite vacations ever.  We were escorted out of a sushi restaurant by the owner, and off of the beach by the police.  We ate 3 unhealthy meals a day including Fractured Prune donuts.  I am so lucky that Claire came into my life when she did, because I know I have a life long friend.

So seven bridesmaids...that's not too many right?  I feel like its a lot, but I can't imagine getting married without any of them.  I can't leave out my adorable flower girl, Charlotte, who is so excited to be "getting married with Casey and Ty."  I bought her a flower girl book that explains the whole process and she read it to me a few times.  She seems to get the general concept ("There are smiles EVERYWHERE!").  She will definitely be the cutest, best-rehearsed flower girl ever.

I realized I haven't even talked about my wonderful fiance, but I can't believe how much I've written already, and don't wanna burn myself out on the whole blogging thing....so another day for that :)

  1. Case, this is such a great idea!

I'm pretty sure I can speak for all seven of us when I say that we're so honored to be a part of your wedding and can't wait for the big day. The next year will undoubtedly be filled with tons of love and laughter as we help plan the perfect celebration for you and Ty. (And I'm so ready to dive in and be your personal designer. Just waiting for my assignments!)

    Love you!

  3. Love this! And I agree with Emily - beyond happy for you guys and so honored to be a part of it! Even though I'm far away I would love to help in any way I can (let's talk cake) and will be making trips up for sure. And who is Lauren trying to kid, that comment was obviously written from atop a horse.

  5. PS- Yesterday morning after Charlotte got up, she asked me why Casey was STILL sleeping, and I had to break the news that you had already left. There were instant tears. ALLIGATOR sized. The only consolation I could give her was that you would practice her flower girl duties with her the next time we see you. Just so you know. :-)
